    I thinks that’s for dialing in your ergonomics before buying a real stem. Not for actual riding.

    It’s a Nitto incarnation of the old Titan / Cinelli track stems with the adjustable clamp. They made them a long long time ago, hence the $399 pricetag!

    Jesus. 400? I remember seeing a custom builder that made brass and steel ones in Colorado for a lot less (cheap frames too).

    And why did they make it so you have to unwrap the bars, remove the brakes, etc, just get it on/off the bars?

    There are some things from the 70′s I don’t miss.

    For $400, you can buy a range of sizes in some cheap stem and then just give the unwanted ones away for Hannukah presents.

    The Titan / Cinelli stems were from the days of olde.

    The idea was “one stem for every rider”. You could adjust the length and find a perfect fit. I had a titan one a while back. They’re pretty, but it was hard to get them tightened to a point where you didn’t feel any sway.

    Here’s a friend’s classic Frejus with Campy inch pitch, Cinelli adjustable stem, Cinelli pista pars and other “period correct” bits.

    WTF? It’s not like you’re likely to wear out handlebar tape racing on the track. Brake levers?!?!? Oh! No! You didn’t!
