Hooooooly shit that Baroness record is fucking genius! Long hair and beards (well at least at their last euro tour john baizley still had long hair) I wonder if they named themselves after teh G.I.Joe toy character.

its a little hard for me to believe that minsks album “with echoes in the movement of stone” only got an honorable mention, but at least it got something. they are an awesome band and put on an amazing live show, plus they’re pretty cool dudes. anyone who is reading this should check them out (live if possible) if they havent already

Alex: As good as that Minsk album is and as much as both Prolly and I liked it (John reviewed it), our list was a poll based on all of our reviewers and it didn’t crack the top 100.

But not evening making our top 100, how many mainstream music media outlets even wrote or reviewed it?

I think we try our best to make sure all form of Metal are covered but that isn’t our sole focus. That said, were we to do a top 2 metal albums of 2009, Minsk would unquestionably have a spot.

But we opted not to do a best metal list this year because I think at least 20 of our top 100 albums are some form of Metal.
