Rittaayyyyy’s New SSCX Bike

This is about as balleur as a single speed cross bike gets. The new Ritte Racing team rider Ben Jacques-Maynes is tearing apart SoCal’s cross races on this beast. Equipped with the 2012 TRP Parabox Hydraulic disk brakes, it’s good to go.

Ritte, we wanna see more ASAP! Maybe I’ll track down Ben at the SSCXWC in LA next week to shoot some photos.

       That’s the TRP Parabox – it transfers a brake cable input to hydraulic braking output.

    Love that they’re doing belt drive and allowing customers the option for disc and belt.

    That is one awesome fucking ride. That’s pretty much my ideal bike setup (if I could spare no expense). Don’t understand why the majority of cross bikes still run canti’s, nostalgia?

        I guess.. I was referring more to braking with all the crap that gets on the sidewalls and into the brakes…

      Discs are set up to MUCH finer tolerances than Cantis. A decent knock to the seatstay or chainstay of many a Steel or Ti frame can result in a rubbing disc in no time. Discs require a much stronger frame if they’re going to be dependable. The relative simplicity of Cantis (much like road calipers) has been the key to their longevity.
      Saw a couple of these bikes at Verdugo at the weekend btw. Seriously nice bicycles.

        That and traveling with a disk bike is a pain in the ass.

    I see the back of this bike at least once every weekend. The longer I can keep it in sight the more I can pretend I’m having a great race. Dude crushes it.

    Traveling with mech disc’s is a minor pain in the ass, but you better have bleed blocks if you pop the wheel out with a hydraulic system.

    same frame as these, right? Ritte Racing: Steel SSCX It’s awesome that Ben Jacques-Maynes is riding for them. One of the coolest names in pro cycling.

    Wouldn’t want to go into the pit and change a disk wheel. It’s hard enough getting a wheel in the drops with a caliper in a stand. 

    Would also rather get a rim with a brake track so the option of using it on the road bike would be there.
