Icarus Behemoth Track Frameset for Sale | PERMALINK
Today I took Brian Vernor over to Ian of Icarus Frames‘ shop. Those two individuals have inspired me to continue to support small, local frame builders consistently over the years. Their work embodies the craftsmanship and creativity that I look to for inspiration during the daily grind, so I was stoked to introduce them.
While Brian was getting to know Ian, I took a few photos of this unique track frameset that just so happens to be for sale. This is no “street fixie”, it’s a tough-as-nails, stiff, true track sprint machine, complete with inverted 29r chainstays, a 44mm head tube and all oversized tubing. It’s a sprinter’s dream machine!
Check out the frame details and pricing below!
From Icarus Frames:
“Designed to be real dang stiff for a rider with some power, this one isn’t for those preoccupied with weight. It has a 44mm headtube so it can be setup with a straight 1 1/8″ fork or a tapered setup. Super oversize top tube and Dedacciai shaped downtube with an S-Bend seat tube. The chain stays are 29er stays that I inverted so they would stay narrow then flare out. They are HUGE.
ST 560mm c-c, 620mm c-t
TT 565mm (effective) has negative slope
BB drop 55mm
Standover at center of top tube 810mm
$1200 includes a Cervelo 1 1/8″ track fork or I can order a Serenity tapered track fork for an even stiffer setup. During the intentional bending, crimping and dimpling of the chainstays I made some unintentional flat spots on the insides of the stays. So everything is strong but not as smooth as I usually shoot for, its a prototype and a deal so race the shit out of it. Paint not included.
