Resist: Bald and Out Contest

Resist just posted up this contest to win a free set of Nomad tires:

“For all you guys that have completely bald, ripped or shredded tires, we have the contest for you.  Send us a picture via our Facebook wall of your worn out tire and we’ll see if you deserve a free replacement of new Resist Nomad tires.  Is it that simple? YES!  Read more for the rules.

Date of Contest Ending: July 2012

Contest:
Send us a picture of your worn out tire and we’ll see if you deserve a free replacement set of new Resist Nomad tires.  It would help if you also sent us a picture of your complete bike also.  We obviously can’t give free tires out to everyone out there and we’ll be judging on who best deserves the tires.  We’ll only consider worn out tires that have been ridden and won’t accept a new looking tire with slashes or rips that looks like it could have been deliberately done.

How to submit your worn out tire.
All submissions have to be submitted to our Facebook Wall.  Also helps if you LIKE our page too.

Wins:
A free set of Nomad tires (sidewall colors and sizes may vary due to current inventory).

Rules:
1. Contests are only for Continental US residents (unless winner wants to pay for the overseas shipping)
2. We’ll only accept 1 entry per person.”

This one’s easy!

Tuesday Teardown: White Orange Giveaway

Psychedelic, cult rock, mixed in with Pacific Northwest vernacular influences is how’d describe White Orange‘s sound. But since they’re such stoners, they rant on about how White Orange embodies a “synesthesia of sound and movement, an ideological translucent experience, jammy epic psychedelic trance rock”. If you grew up listening to desert rocksters Kyuss, or had your skateboarding sessions fueled by Dinosaur Jr, these guys are for you. Hell, my dad’s love for King Crimson trickled over into my childhood music taste. All of these bands, mixed in with some Alex Grey-inspired cult album art make White Orange one unique band. And you can win some of their music, including a 2x LP.

Tuesday Teardown is back and I figured I’d start it off with something a lil different.

44RN 144#47 Raidô Contest Winners

The Raidô has ended and everyone’s submissions flooded Instagram. By my last count, there are over 100 photos with the #Raido hashtag. I received dozens on the PiNP FB and my email. Wanting to be as unbiased as possible, I sent 44RN the pool and had him pick two winners. Each of these guys will receive a limited edition Purple 44RN 144#47 chainring.

Check out the two winners below.

Show Me Yours

showmeyours.jpg

First up, there’s this event, as a precursor to NAHBS. If you’re in Portland this Friday, be there!

showmeyour540.jpg

Then, Rapha‘s showing some love to handmade bicycles. They’ll be showcasing photos that use the #ShowMeYourBike hashtag on Instagram and Twitter. Simply Tweet at @Rapha_N_America and your bike might be featured on Friday, February 23rd. That means the deadline is Thursday!

No prizes, although Jeremy mentioned something about a hand job… Check out more details here. I’ve already submitted my rides (including my Rosko BMX), so why not send yours through?

Also, that Sachs is fucking nice.

Raidô Doesn’t End Here

Raido.jpg

The Raidô contest ended earlier this week and while I sort through the submissions to find a winner, I’ll post one of my favorites. While I never intended for Raidô to be anything serious, I can’t let photos like this go without a note. Martin shared his story with me:

“Self-Portrait after a hilly 5 hour road ride near Jetřichovice , Czech Republic. I recall this being a very humid day. The nice thing about this ride was the constant cross-border riding on either German or Czech territory.”

Some people took a fall, others filled a bidon in a waterfall.

Until we determine a winner, take a look at some of the Instagram submissions here. Or simply search for the #RAIDO hashtag yourself.

Raidô Updates

Raido.jpg

So far there’s been a handful of Raidô entrants. This one from Gunnar Dancer is spot-on. Honestly, I was expecting a lot more to come through by now. Remember, it doesn’t have to be super serious. And even though the prize is a track chainring, it’s not limited to just track bikes. You can post MTB, BMX, track, road or cross photos. Anything from a worn out sneaker bottom, to a flat tire, to a messy bike.

Pull out your iPhone, digital, 35mm or whatever camera and document your ride. You can even use older photos. Instagram is by far the easiest way to share. Simply add a #RAIDO hastag or follow the rules for Facebook. You can even email me your entries.

Raidô is about the ride and the journey and that is left open to interpretation.

We’re also including the option to take a silver 44RN ring, in lieu of the purple.

44RN 144#47 Raidô Contest

RAIDO.jpg

In Elder Futhark, an Old Norwegian language, Raidô means ride or journey. This symbol, like all Nordic Runes may be inverted, rotated or Merkstave. Creating a Merkstave usually implies a negative meaning, not necessarily the opposite. The negative of ride or journey means struggle and we can all identify with that. These ups and downs are part of cycling.

44RN and PiNP are throwing a contest to give-away a limited edition 144#47 ring. I received three purple anodized track rings from Aaron and the winner of the contest will get their lucky hands on one.

The rules are simple:

-”Like” Prolly is Not Probably on Facebook.
-Upload a photo to Facebook that best represents the highs and lows of riding and tag it with Prolly is Not Probably.
-Make sure you have RAIDO in the photo’s description.
-You may also use Instagram and the hashtag #RAIDO but make sure we’re contacts so I can see it.
-Contest ends February 15th!

Aaron and I will judge these photos, giving the winner one of these sweet rings.

Check out the 144#47 purple ring below!
