Velo Cult: The Cult is Alive in Brooklyn

Velo Cult's one of those shops. You know the kind. The shops with oodles of vintage cycles, from all eras, just hanging around. They're into fixed gears and touring too (oh my!); one of those shops that hits on everything cycling related and supports the communities by documenting each with beautiful photographs on their blog. They just get it. Even their branding and website is spot-fucking-on.

Case in point; their wool jerseys. I've posted about them before and I've finally got my hands on one.

Check out more below.

Velocult: All Seeing Eye Mountain Shirt

Velocult has a new tee and sweatshirt design. Inspired by Masonic imagery, the All Seeing Eye Mountain graphic puts a new spin on the commonly-flipped insignia. This time, there's a touring bike loaded down in the foreground. Really rad concept. Shirts came out great. If it's something you'd wanna wear, either swing through their shop, or grab one here.

Chrome Bags: Coveted Jersey

Jackie over at Chrome shot me an email earlier today with their new Coveted Jersey attached. It’s a limited edition riding jersey that can only be obtained by winning Chrome-sponsored bike events. Pretty neat idea if you ask me. Designed by Garret Chow of MASH/GLOBE and produced in Italy by Capo, only 200 jerseys have been made and once they’re gone, that’s it. Love the 40 in the jersey pocket. Nice refractions too!

Check out some more shots below.

Zlog Boutique Online Sale

Zlog is having a Spring Cleaning sale over at his online Boutique. Head over to take advantage of the savings.

Futura Laboratories and Descente: Packable Jacket

Futura is a cyclist, a self-proclaimed cyclo-tourist, who made his mark on the world with a can of spraypaint and a marker. Now his work is world-renown and constantly evolving. Descente's cycling and outerwear line is also in flux; shifting the new breed of urban cyclists who want fashion with their function. Hence this latest collaborative effort between the NYC-based artist and the outerwear company.

I think it's a really well done jacket and it packs into a small carrying case. It's not cheap, but that's the name of the game. Check out more photos at Freshness.

Mishka x Rebel8

Way stoked on how this came out. My friends at Mishka teamed up with Rebel 8 to make a killer New Era, a men's and women's tee. The hat is insane. It came out so proper. Something that belongs on Endless Blockades for sure.

Puma: Cycling to Mars

When I first moved to NYC back in 2004, I remember hearing about a Puma cycling team comprised entirely of bicycle messengers. There was also that Puma Guide to Cycling in the City zine that was floating around. Bottom line is this, Puma, in one way or another, has been dialed into the urban cycling in NYC for some time now, even if they weren't constantly in the limelight.

Enter the "Cycling to Mars" cycling sneakers. The shoes have a stiff sole and outsole, reflective accents and hideaway laces. They colorway chosen for the initial pair is a bit odd, but I'm sure people will still pull it off. If they were monochromatic or more subtle, I'd try them out. It's always interesting to see larger companies takes on cycling sneakers. So far, Nike's City Tiempo has my vote!

The Puma "Cycling to Mars" sneakers are now available at select stockists. Anyone know the retail?

Trackosaurus Rex: Save the Track Bike Buttons

This button can take on multiple meanings. At first when Kyle gave me one, I thought he was bashing on 700cmx, but then after talking about it, he said it was more broad than that. Really clever design which was actually flipped from the fashion industry!

Grab one here!

Karmaloop TV: Mishka Store Opening Echo Park LA

Karmaloop TV was at the Mishka Echo Park opening in LA last weekend. Greg was kind enough to show them around the store and point out all the details. I was half-hoping that they would have caught the LA Leprechaun on camera but I guess he was too fast.

Before you ask, yes. DART is a DMT cult.

Mishka Tokyo Store Opening Party

The Mishka World Tour continues next week in Tokyo. I designed the space for Mishka's first international store and once again, I'll be out at the opening party. How crazy is that? The whole crew is coming, including Lamour Supreme. He'll be there airbrushing your face (if you let him). Wait till you see what he's created for the Harajuku store!

March 5th. Be there!

Incase Spring Courier Collection Additions

Incase ( @goincase ) steps their game up this spring with some new additions to their Courier Collection line. In addition to a new dove gray and orange colorway, they've introduced a few more bags and accessories.

Check out more photos below.

Wikkerink Design Wallets

Wikkerink Design reuses old inner tubes and fashions them into wallets and belts. They're now offering a 10% discount; simply add the code bikebike at checkout. This offer is good through March 15th, so you've got some time. All Wikkerink Design merchandise is sold with free international shipping. Not bad if you ask me. This long vinyl wallet looks pretty legit. Check out the rest of his offerings here.

Freshness Feature: Outlier

This rules. So stoked for Abe and Tyler. Freshness Online Mag has interviewed Abe and Tyler from Outlier (that's Tyler on the left and our friend James on the right). Head over to read it if you ever wanted some more background on the Brooklyn-based brand.

Mishka Los Angeles Echo Park Store Opening Recap

Last weekend was the Mishka Los Angeles Echo Park store opening party. Since I designed the space for the guys, they flew me out to help with the setup and to attend the opening party. Of course, I had to bring my bike, even though I only had a day to ride it.

I've got more photos and a recap below.

VAGX & Rock 'n Rollin' Fixie Riders Messenger Bag

Korean bag company VAGX worked with the Rock 'n Rollin' Fixie Riders on an exclusive messenger bag. The illustration was drawn by Andco-Lab and is intense to say the least. Captain Skull Skid is the name of the character created by Andco-Lab and it features 3M reflective accents. Check out more information at the Rock 'n Rollin Fixie Riders blog.

Mishka Crew in Ollie Magazine

Tak ( @tak_nyc )recently shot Greg Mishka, Lamour Supreme, Mike Jones and me at Mishka's 350 Broadway for the new Ollie Magazine. Lamour's been getting a lot of press lately. He was recently interviewed in the Source as well. Check that out here. Thanks for the shout out man!

Wait till you see what Joel's created for the Mishka Tokyo store... oops, did I just let the cat out of the bag?

New Era Cap Japan: Soft Messenger Caps

These new soft messenger caps from New Era Japan look a lot more appealing than the umpire caps they've re-branded as "cycling" caps in the past. Mostly because they will:

-fit under a helmet
-stuff into a pocket
-wash easier
-dry faster

Four colorways with a drawstring cinch in the back. Only critique I've got is that I wish the bill was more rigid because it looks a little floppy. What's the likelihood of these coming to the States? Very slim I'd say.

Nike Sportswear: Mr. Cartoon Air Zoom Tiempos

As the snow is falling here in NYC, I can't even begin to think about wearing a low-top sneaker. Spring's right around the corner though and that means more time on the bike, shorts and lows. Nike Sportswear, in celebration of the forthcoming World Cup, teamed up with artists worldwide to design their country's team kits. The USA's kit was designed by Mr. Cartoon and included in the release is a murdered out pair of the Nike Air Zoom Tiempos; seen above. Maybe this means that Nike will continue to put out the Tiempos? I wonder if they'll have the same stiff sole as the CTRS pack? They really are great riding shoes, so let's hope so.

No idea when they're going to be released, or for how much, but let's cross our fingers they're a general release.
