When people say "grandpa bike" this is what I think of. Speed Bicycles' latest upload to their ever-growing bicycle collection is this 1945 Stucchi Tipo S.S.V. As with any competition, the street riding before and after is usually the most fun. No one's stressing out or trying to hurt themselves, they're just out having a blast. Check out Sam's video from last week's All City Championships street riding featuring Antonyo, Taylor, Torey and Rick. Taylor slammed that wall! Nicely done.

I just came across this beautiful Colnago Arabesque and was immediately lost in the details. It really is gorgeous with everything, well except the bar wrap, dialed into perfection. I really hate loose tape, especially when it's wrapped the wrong way! Needless to say, this is a perfect snow, I mean show bike.

I gotta admit. I think this is the first and only PUMA bike that I can honestly say is pushing good design and function. Hats off to you guys. I just hope people can control these things better than the normal bikes. Beware of anyone riding a PUMA bike. They're hazards! (joking of course). Last time I posted an illustration from Chris Piascik's All My Bikes series, I mentioned that I would be cherry-picking the ones that I posted. I think Chris had a very similar experience as most of us. First you got your conversion. For me it was a Peugeot. Then you get a mail-order bike; Chris' was a Kilo TT. Mine was an IRO angus. You realize the parts were shit (well, I ordered my Iro as a frameset and let a LBS build it) and you quickly start to replace the stock components. All this work and before you know it, you've dropped over $800 on a bike that could have easily been bought locally.

If I had a penny for every person that told me a story like this, I could buy a Jalapeno-cheddar bagel.

More often than not, listening to instrumental doom is like jerking off and not… Well, you know. There’s this epic build-up and all you want to hear is some vocals. Something human and intense. Instrumental doom by definition lacks this. Few bands can pull it off. In fact, the only ones that I regularly listen to is Earth and Chicago-based Bongripper. With their previous-releases, Heroin, Hippie Killer and Hate Ashbury, they just kinda killed the genre for anyone else.

Satan Worshipping Doom is as much of a satirical jab at the instrumental doom genre as anything. How could something be Satanic without vocals? Duh. Get some evil-ass album art! Opening the abyss is the first track “Hail” which picks up where Hate Ashbury left off. The distinct sound, the picking of the riffs, the colliding percussion and the shear fucking weight of it all. Bongripper is like a ton of bricks.

One of the most sought-after Italian framebuilders is Pogliaghi. The Italcorse track bikes are absolutely stunning examples of pure Italian craft, fetching pretty pennies on eBay and at swaps. Right now, there's a 57cm red Italcorse track (#9606) on eBay for the reasonable price of $1,450. Remember, these will sometimes fetch twice that! Damn, that's a pretty bike! When technology jumps forward in one's lifespan, certain things are forgotten. Back in the 80's and 90's track racers rode quill pedals with cleats and straps. With the advent of clipless systems, many abandoned their straps and toe clips for clipless pedals. Speedplay quickly became the pedal system of choice for track racers. This bike was my first introduction to Vanilla's master craftsmanship. I remember seeing photos of it at NAHBS years back and drooling all over it. Now it hangs in NYC Velo on 2nd Avenue in NYC. Small details, like this chain-hanger make it a very practical and still sexy bike. Practicality and vintage componentry might now be your forte, but for geeks like me, it's what we live for. Especially when it comes to Campagnolo Super Record Pista groups.

Yes, those are non-fluted Super Record cranks. I had the Strada on my 90's Merckx Corsa Extra but these are most definitely Pista. 165mm too!

In case you didn't believe me. These are some of the most coveted Campagnolo components ever made. A pantographer's dream!

You really can't beat the build. Campy clips too.
