K@nt! Crew Introductions

If you've been living under a rock for the past year, then this will be news to you, so read up! For those of us who watch countless videos online of fixed freestyle riders from Japan, you'll recognize the name K@nt! These dudes kill it. Whether it's through their photos, videos, skateboards or fixed gears, the K@nt! crew is unstoppable. I met some of these dudes while I was in Tokyo last time. Here's a photo of some W-Base and K@nt! people with me (that's Nasty's feet in the air by the way).

Nasty has a whole intro to each rider, along with videos (including the Hamabike edit) over on his blog. Go check it out!

Marco Harajuku Bar Hop

Photo via 84's Flickr

I know where that spot is. It's right in front of the Mishka Harajuku store. Marco's not only sponsored by DART and Mishka in Tokyo, he also works at the store. That's dedication! Check out a nice bar hop on his Durcus One frame. Love the facial expression!

Rick Anderson: Antonio 180 Sequence

Photos by Rick Anderson

Rick just shot me an email with this sequence of Antonio doing a 180 down a 4-set. Really clean photos and a smooth landing. Nice one man!

Gabby and Christina's Stair Gaps

Photos by Keith Teket and Rick Anderson

I have to say, this is pretty fucking rad. Christina from Bmore Fixed and Gabby from Milwaukee hitting some stairs. Gabby's recent blog entry on her Charge Diary has a brief story about her doing a 4-stair gap and Cristina's entry to the Pikey Bags x Headset Clothing x Prolly is not Probably Give-Away has her hitting this 4-stair in downtown Baltimore. I watched Christina fall hard four or five times in Richmond trying to do a wallride. She ate shit so many times and still got back up to go for it again. Tough girl!

These ladies are putting in their work. Keep at it!

Sexysushi: Hal Building an Alchemy Frameset at Bored

Sexysushi is at it again for Ollie Magazine. He just posted some photos of Hal building one of the FTC x Nabiis Alchemy frames at BORED bike shop in Tokyo. Really great lighting in these shots. Check them out here.

Matt Lingo: Congo for VAGX

Matt Lingo shot this sequence of Congo for VAGX at the Downtown Showdown. The Korean porter company stepped into the American fixed scene by supporting the bronco-hopping Congo and others from Cali and once again, Mr. Matt Lingo's work is looking great.

Devan Mickell: Barspins and Ledge Hops

I met Devan back in Richmond at the NAHBS. Last night she posted some photos of her riding to the Pikey Bags and Headset Clothing Giveaway Contest. They came out really rad, so head over to her blog and check the rest out.

Ed Glazar: Bike NYC

Ed Glazar just announced that his new project, a book called Bike NYC, was just picked up by Skyhorse Publishing. The book will be about, you guessed it, biking in NYC and will include photos of events, interviews and other tidbits of cycling life here in New York. Really stoked for Ed, Michael Green and author Marci Blackman. That's a great team!

Follow Bike NYC on Twitter, become a fan of them on Facebook and be on the look out for the book in April 2011!

Zlog: Steven Jensen 180 Bar

Steven Jensen is really stepping up his presence on the internet as of late. The Seattle rider has been getting a ton of well-deserved coverage over on Zlog. It's always great to see new riders come up and gain exposure on their local blogs. Zach spent the day with Steven and others at a local skatepark and snapped this photo of Steven blasting a 180 bar out of a bowl.

I can't wait to see what's next for this dude! If you missed it, check out Zlog's interview with Steven here.

Sexy Sushi: Prolly is Prawling

I think of all the people I have met over the years in the worldwide cycling scene, Sexy Sushi is one of my favorites.I used to look at his photos of the JAN crew on Flickr all the time and was always impressed with his photography. At that time, pogos and rollouts were the tricks considered "advanced" in the growing sport and Japan had them on lock. I met Eisuke (pronounced "yous-gay") back in 2008 at Peel Sessions randomly. He came out, took some photos and then we took him to a bar and got him drunk.

The story continues below...

Matthew Spencer Out of the Bank

Matthew Spencer's a really rad kid. I rode with him in LA a few weeks ago and he's a total sleeper. You wouldn't expect him to shred, but as evident in the photo above, he's got wings. Check out that air out of the drainage ditch! Tucked behind the saddle and everything.

Rad shot Matthew. Now, who took it?

Super Ted at Water St. Sessions

Photos by Jessop Kozink / Out of Print Mag

Ronnie from Out of Print Mag in Philly sent me over this sequence of Super Ted doing a pedal grind to 180 at the Water St. Sessions spot. Crazy sequence! Seems like Ted had an awesome trip in 'Merica. Safe travels home man!

Bmore Fixed: Blue Tops

Photo via Bmore Fixed

While I was on a plane coming back from Tokyo, the entire Northeast had gorgeous weather. That includes the once snow-covered city of Baltimore. The dudes (and dudettes) from Bmore Fixed were out taking advantage of the gorgeous weather and have a set up on Flickr documenting it.

We're gonna try to make it down soon to ride guys. Looks like a lotta fun spots!

Hassy's Photo of Me in Tokyo

Man. I am beat. What a whirlwind trip. For the past 2 days, we've all been running around like chickens with our heads cut off. Photoshoots, meetings, shopping and riding kept us all busy. Tomorrow we head back to Brooklyn and I've got a ton of photos to sift through. For now, this one Hassy took of me will have to do!

Thanks to everyone who came out last night and today. It was great seeing old friends and meeting new friends! Once again, big ups to Tokyo!

Mishka Harajuku Trip Day 1

We made it safely to Tokyo. Last night we went to the Mishka Harajuku store and to our surprise, it's almost complete! Here are two photos and there are more at my Flickr.

Tom LaMarche: White Walls Gap

Photos by Gary Wilpizeski

You may recognize this popular Richmond spot from various BMX videos. Just today, ESPN ran an interview with Evan from Re-Cycles Bike Shop about the history of BMX in RVA. In the article, Evan does a one-footed table at the spot, known as White Walls.

This weekend, White Walls was a staple spot to ride in downtown Richmond. Gary Wilpizeski caught a sequence of Tom gapping out of the quarter to the street above. Pretty nuts. Check out the rest of Gary's shots here.

Zlog Crew: Tyler Johnson 180

Great shot Zach!

Zach's been out shooting with the Zlog crew a lot lately and from the looks of this photo, also working on another edit. Here's my favorite from the set; Tyler Johnson about to lift off from a 180 off a ledge. Great lighting man. Can't wait to see this edit, the last one was a gang banger fest. Wait, what?

Gus and Nick's Wallrides

Photos by Brandon Means

Gus and Nick at it again. Hitting some wallrides (or walltaps, whatever you want to call them). Nice seeing the two different shots side by side. Dudes both have solid styles.

4416: Tom Elevator Pedal Grind

Photo via 4416's Flickr

4416 has a few nice photos up on their Flickr from when Philly was in Londontown. All of them are worth peeping, but I really dug this one of Tom doing an elevator pedal grind. I'm not trying to make any kind of nomenclature up, but watching him do them in person merits the name.

Check out the rest at 4416's Flickr
