After finally slowing down, and slipping into my routine back home, I got bombarded with out of town company. Austin’s a city that fairs well with guests. Typically, all I have to do is take my friends to my local spots and they have a blast.
Unlike previous trips, I rode around without a camera, but as the saying goes: the best camera is the one you have on you. Here are two iPhone photos from this past week that embodies how I like to ride my cross bike in Austin.

Freight’s backpacks are of decent size and it just so happens that Krys from NYC Velo found her next halloween costume. Personally, I bet she could fit in there completely… See more Freight stock at NYC Velo’s blog.

Last night’s Keep Cross Weird race was a huge success. 50 racers registered and a great spectator crowd formed. There was a lot of mud, even more running and the fine folks at Yellow Jacket Social Club kept the drinks coming all night.
I’m still playing host to a group of people, so the site will be kinda quiet today. Oh and I didn’t even take a camera to the race with me. Which is very weird. Gideon did however, so check out his photos on the Beat the Clock Facebook!
If you shot photos, please email them to me!

Last weekend, here in Austin, the land of the perpetual music festival, crowds descended upon Zilker park for Fun Fun Fun Fest. I steered clear of the crowds, but some of my friends dove right in. One of which being Cody Nutter, who managed to get some rad photos at the vert ramp. Check a few more out here!

Man, it don’t get much betta’ then this. When Sean from Team Dream Bicycling Team took Andy from FYXO and me on a ride in the Topanga hills, we were lead to believe it would be an easy spin. Actually, come to think of it, I’m pretty sure I said I would only ride if it were an easy spin… Andy and I had just done a big ride the day before, I was very sunburnt and had sand in my crotch.
That didn’t stop Sean, who was amped to show us his home trails…
… and a little sand in the crotch didn’t stop FYXO from bringing his DSLR on the ride to capture some radness. Head over to FYXO to see the full scoop!
I still have so much leftover film from China, with some of my favorites being the roll of 220 I shot in the bamboo forest on the Mamiya. The guys from Factory 5 rode up to the top of this mountain range on their track bikes and I was on my cross bike, getting shots along the way.

California is the place to be and even some Portland scalawags like team Speedvagen know that. Ok, so they’re not scalawags, but they sure know how to have fun! Check out the amazing photos by Jeff Curtes over at the Speedbloggen!

Chris Igleheart is one of the raddest builders. His history dates back to working at Fat City Cycles in Somerville. Last year, he moved to Portland, Oregon to continue building for himself and also for a couple of notable companies.
A few weeks ago, he was struck by a car on his commute home and he’s out over $15,000. There’s a YouCaring site set up and they’ve already raised over $9,000. One more big push will surely get him there.
I’m not telling you to donate, because I hate it when people do that, but if you would like to, do so at the I Heart IGLE YouCaring site!
