Brooklyn Banks Update

Gothamist has an update on the closing of the Brooklyn Banks... Doesn't look good. Some people are even saying it shouldn't be re-opened as a park!

The city has made up its mind. Come December, the Brooklyn Banks will be boarded up and transformed into a construction area for the Brooklyn Bridge rehabilitation project, Scott Gastel, spokesperson for the city Dept. of Transportation told Downtown Express.

Read the rest of the story here.

BMX Downhill Rotterdam

Pretty fucking rad little BMX video for the weekend. The Rotterdam waterfront is a great place. You can see the Erasmus brug in the background. Perfect spot to ride. These two BMXrs, Mark Vos and Boy Janssen decided to downhill one of the many buildings on the riverfront. No idea what building it is (thought it was the back of the KPN, but it's not) and this is more than likely fake, but it's still a rad video!

Nuovo Record Pista

151 Pista cranks and ring

I snapped a few shots of my Merckx last night at Peel using Wilis' flash and my G10. For the first time I'm happy with how some pictures I took at the Peel spot came out.

Nuovo Record Pista hub

You can check the rest out here. Once the bike is at 100%, I'll be posting it on a Merckx Monday.

Bike Smut: Cycle Bound Trailer

Cycle Bound Trailer -tight from rev phil on Vimeo.

I don't know what to say. I'm speechless. Along with the very NSFW video embedded above, Bikesmut.com offers this explanation:

Its been demanded and its been begged for and its been about time for us to unleash the beast that is the promotional trailer.

Our hesitation has been simple if not infuriating. This year's program has all new content that greatly expands our understanding of what was previously considered bike porn. The movies are amazing and naturally we want the trailer to be just as good. Frequently are better than their respective movies, and people go to see the movies knowing that. So we take specific shame in presenting this trailer, which, some say is great but we feel falls short on presenting the awesome bikesexual nature that is the entire program of Cycle Bound.

Selle San Wonka

Is this the first signature fixed freestyle saddle? Wonka, Gorilla and San Marco?

Gorilla just tweeted this pic and it looks like Wonka's tag is embroidered on a Concor with a Gorilla-logo embossing. If it's true, then that's pretty rad.

More to come? Hopefully...

Any more? I had to make a new post, the last image was getting too big! NYC's is coming up too, just awaiting details.

Cimatti Campagnolo Cambio Corsa

Harry, the man behind the NY Bike Jumble and the provider of content for Tears for Gears as of late is selling a beautiful 57cm Cimatti Campagnolo Cambio Corsa 1940's road bike on eBay. This is pure sex on two wheels. If vintage (read, 60 years old) roadies are your thing, check it out!

It ends in less than a day, so you can probably get a good deal on it! Like what you see? Check out the full gallery here!

Shop 14 WWII Fighter Frame

The Shop 14 guys did it again. A customer wanted a WWII fighter plane-themed paintjob and at Shop 14, the customer gets what they want. Head over to their blog to see the rest of the pics and the precedent image!

Now all it needs is a Cinelli Alter pin-up girl stem!

Ed Glazar's Wedge Shot

Ed once again captures the environment of Peel Sessions. This was from the week when the Revival guys were in town filming. Great times.

Even though my foot is still broken, we're still doing Peel so roll through tonight!

TCB Courier: Pizza + Candy

TCB Courier: Pizza + Candy from Joe Lumbroso on Vimeo.

Yes, this has been everywhere, but this still merits the re-re-re-re-post.

Sounds like a similar idea the Snap! guys have going on in Brooklyn, but in SF. TCB's rates, delivery zone and general goodness can be found right here, at their snazzy site.

Love the video guys. Keep it up!

Follow TCB on Twitter too.

Tomity and Affinity at CMWC

Jason from Affinity just put up a nice post about Tomity, Kalavinka and Affinity. Head on over and read about it on the Affinity blog.

Nike iD iPhone App and Track Bikes

You read it right. Want to customize your dunks to match the exact color on your track or tarck bike? Losing sleep over whether or not the colors will be 10000% accurate? Well, put away the Ambien and download this Nike iD app for your iPhone.

Get inspired by the world around you - take a photo with your iPhone, or use an existing photo. PhotoiD will create a custom color palette based on your image which you can use to find matching designs.

Search with one or two colors, or try mixing and matching different color combinations to find the perfect design. Got a thing for pink and green? Dial it in with the color picker.

Ace Metric

Pic by Andrew Curry

Ace Metric is a new track bike shop in Orlando, Florida. It was started by a group of friends with the intent to offer the Orlando area a bike shop embedded in the fixed gear culture. If you're in Orlando on vacation or if you live in the area, swing through and say hi to the guys.

Mike is also throwing an alleycat and trick comp soon, so definitely go to that! I'll post the flier once I receive it.

Loop Magazine Vol 2

Loop Magazine's second issue has been released in Japan. It features an article on Peel Sessions, Brooklyn Machine Works and Mishka. Jeremiah from Hold Fast also made the cover with his new Brooklyn Element! Nate even made the flier for the launch party.

One thing's for sure, Tokyo has love for Brooklyn! Now I gotta find a place in NYC that has a copy.

N°5 Chain-L

I've been meaning to post this chain lube for a while but never got around to it. After seeing a pic of it on Hunky Dory, I had to (thanks Mike!). Chain-L is a nicely-branded, high-performance chain lube from New England (Westchester maybe?)

At Interbike a year ago, I snatched up a sample bottle and used it up in a month or two. I wanted to buy more, but at $12.00 per 4oz bottle, it's a little more than I like to spend on lube. The price is probably why they chose a Chanel-inspired label!

More information:

In a word, it’s oil. More specifically, Chain-L is a blend of extreme pressure (EP) lubricants in a high film-strength mineral oil base, formulated to provide the maximum possible lubrication to the tiny bearings that make up a chain. Chain-L also contains rust inhibitors and other additives to improve its longevity and wet-weather performance.

Check it out at their site here.

Adidas Originals Five-Two 3 Samba Madsaki

Remember that Kalavinka x Adidas Samba that everyone seemed to hate on? Well, maybe not everyone. Hell, I liked them, but that's besides the point.

Adidas remodeled their Samba for fixed gear riding and even though Highsnobiety doesn't mention that in their post, the designers at the Adidas tent told me these Madsaki shoes are part of a larger fixed gear pack that's due out any day now.

Some improvements made to the shoe were a stiffer sole, extra padding at the toe box and a Velcro lace cover to reduce lace wear. They had Kalavinka design one pair and Madsaki design another. To go with each shoe are a series of cut and sew items as well. I took some pics, but Flickr seems to be down at the moment. Everything I saw at the Adidas tent looked legit though, so you'll have to take my word on it! No word on US-distro, although they did tell me these will be available in the States.

Keep watch here for future posts as events warrant.

Mishka 2010 Calender Party Thursday

With last year's calender a huge success, Mishka asked Ellen Stagg to come back to shoot the 2010 calender. It's available for pre-order now and this Thursday is the official opening party at their store on 350 Broadway in Brooklyn. I'll be there early before Peel Sessions, so be sure to swing through!

Ellen will also be exhibiting more of her erotic photography at the space, so don't miss out!

More From RVA Fixed

Julio getting scooped up by the bank's transition. Keep watch for these guys in Bootleg Sessions 4. Hopefully the dudes at RVAFixed.com will start updating their site with more pictures. This was taken from Trick Track.

RVA coming up!

Toku by Sexysushi for Loop Magazine

Sexy Sushi just made a post on his blog outlining how he shot Toku's portrait for Loop magazine. The shots are a bit old, but the explanation of how he lit the subjects to capture the mood of Shiba Friday is pretty cool. I think that's what Google translate said anyway!

Reminds me of what Tak does when he shoots us at Peel. Low light and minimal flashes. Be on the look out for Peel, Mishka, Affinity and other NYC people and places in the new issue of Loop. It should be out shortly!

Catch the rest of the shots here.

CMWC 2009 Group Photo

click for higher-resolution

I've been looking for this photo for weeks! The organizers of the CMWC Tokyo had a construction crane on the last day to take a group photo. So many people!

Anyone have a link to a higher-resolution image? I'll host it here, regardless of size. I'm in there, top left, standing by myself. The neon orange fork really pops.
