Richard Sachs is Selling a NOS Complete Campagnolo Derailleur Collection

This is like every Campagnolo collector’s dream. Richard Sachs is selling a complete set of NOS Campy rear derailleurs:

“For sale is my entire collection of Campagnolo derailleurs spanning the late 1950s through the late 1980s. This is among the most complete Campagnolo derailleur collections in existence. It may be the only collection that has every single dated Campagnolo NR rear derailleur in the condition listed here. It is comprised of only NIB/NOS (New In Box/New Old Stock) components. Everything shown for sale is new, never used, not a take-off, free of tool marks, and complete as packed the day it left the loading dock at Vicenza.

All the Nuovo Record derailleurs are marked as shown. They include PATENT, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 11, and NO DATE. Every derailleur comes with the original box and the original instruction sheet. Note:Other than hub locknuts (which are concealed in the assembly) and some Nuovo Record crank arms, I am not aware of any other Campagnolo item that was so overtly date-stamped by year of manufacture. This is a complete set of date-stamped rear derailleurs.

It’s not everyday that you see a Richard Sachs coated in another color besides his signature red. But then again, it’s not everyday a 1970′s Richard Sachs pista shows up in the hands of Andy at Fyxomatosis. That’s a nice piece of America you’ve got there, mate. Like a pagan god signaling the change of seasons, Mr. Richard Sachs is an omen of the ever impending ‘cross season. Once he appears to deliver his team’s frames, the cowbells aren’t too far away.

Beautiful Bicycle: Ross’ Richard Sachs Cross Bike

When I first moved to Austin, I met up with Ross to shoot his Nagasawa track bike. Then I shot photos of his Speedvagen and now, the other day, we took his Richard Sachs cross bike out for some lens love. This bike is race pedigree through and through. There are no cable stops for a front derailleur and no bottle cages. Not ideal for a daily rider but when Ross saw a local selling it, he hopped on board. Wanting to do something a little different with the build, he opted for TRP mini v-brakes, a Ti Chris King headset, Tune ‘Bigfoot’ square taper cranks and a Phil Wood Ti BB. Oh and Campagnolo 10… How’s that for a bike suffering from an identity crisis? Personally, I think it’s bad ass and he’s on it every day when we ride. Ride what you love…

SxSW Randomness 03

Seriously, stop and look at this photo closely...

Today was awesome. We started off with a detox ride to some hills and immediately got sucked into the madness that is SxSW. I randomly bumped into Matty B, who was working at the Handsome roasters pop up shop. After some much-needed caffeine, I headed over to Yellow Jacket, where Elle Camino Vintage Clothes had her pop up shop going and from there, it just got kinda fuzzy. I do know that I saw Lamour Supreme at Secret Walls at some point but again, the rest of the night was a blur. Check it out for yourself here.

2012 NAHBS Day 02

The second day of the 2012 North American Handmade Bicycle show was a madhouse. Walking up to the convention center, I was shocked to see the line wrapping around the block. Inside, the booths were crowded with bell-ringers, brake pullers, tire kickers and top tube tingers. As someone who tends to obsess over frame details, it was easy to document some bikes but the overall frame shots were a real pain. I managed to document a good number of builders, as well as some friend’s bikes. For now check out a photo gallery, featuring Richard Sachs, Yipsan, Mosaic, Rebolledo, Della Santa and Sycip.
