The newest from Chrome features one of my favorite photographers in cycling, Chris Milliman:

“Chris Milliman has been taking pictures since he was a kid. He’s been riding a bike a little bit longer. Chris is lucky enough to do both for a living. He’s captured some of the most epic cycling moments around the world. From Cyclocross Nationals, to the Tour de France, to the streets of NYC and Chicago, Chris captures the essence of cycling in every shot he takes.

This season’s Limited Edition Artist Series features four of Chris’ iconic photographs: A local cyclocross race around an old castle in Belgium, the iconic industrial bridge structures overlooking the bike lanes of Chicago, a locals only watering hole of the same windy city, and the organized chaos of a bike shop. The inside of each bag includes an exclusive woven patch that references old school photo processing.

The Chrome Artist Series celebrates photographers, graphic designers, screen printers, and painters who inspire us. These collaborations are built in limited quantities and once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Black Friday Savings

Each year, I try to share the wealth of savings of Black Friday sales. As always, support your local bike shop first and foremost. Local businesses thrive on holiday sales. In fact, many businesses make enough money during the holidays to help them stay open year round. SO SHOP LOCAL!

Now to completely contradict all that, here are a few online sales and events happening on Black Friday. If you’re throwing a race, post it up in the comments and I’ll add it to the post. Just make sure the flier is at least 655 pixels wide!

FBM: Road Trip to Texas

Pit Stop

There’s nothing better than drinking from the Earth after a mean Cat 2 climb in 90+ degree weather. Last weekend, a big group of us did the Geyserville loop and after the initial descent, there was a water trough filled with ice cold spring water. I took my Hasselblad out of the videographer’s car and snapped a few shots of my Geekhouse resting on this oasis.

Woof Jakarta’s Last Post

I was very, very surprised and saddened to see this on my RSS this morning, first thing. Woof Jakarta has decided to shut down the blog. I’ll still be watching it though, in hopes it will pop back up.

Help Cranky’s Owner Jim C Out

I was just going through my emails when I came across this and then Tracko posted it up as well. I met Jim once, in Tokyo, during the CMWC and he was a brilliantly charismatic guy. As the owner of Cranky’s, a great bike shop, he needs our help.

“This past weekend leading a youth BMX trip, Jim C a figure in our local bike community and Cranky’s shop owner took a really bad crash and landed himself in the hospital. He was rushed into surgery and spent the past couple days in the hospital racking up some big bills. Jim has done so much for our community so if you feel like supporting this awesome guy the Santa Barbara Bike Coalition has set up a donation site at www.bicicentro.org/ICF.

Back when Jim C. first moved out to Santa Barbara three years ago, coalition members were in awe. He brought with him the Bicycle Film Festival, the energy of the LA bike movement, Cranky’s, Gold Sprints, a cyclocross race, and even youth trips 100 miles away because of the BMX ban in our skate park.

Jim served the last two years as a Board member of the Bicycle Coalition active in both our events planning and in the advocacy arena. He tirelessly interacts with new and established cyclists to push our cause, hosts challenging events, and captains the ship at Cranky’s. Jim has helped so many of us, and now it’s time to help him.

At this time, 100% of SB Bicycle Coalition Injured Cyclist Fund donations are going to Jim Cadenhead, who is currently hospitalized due to a major crash during the annual Youth BMX overnight trip that he coordinates out to Atascadero.

He will have significant medical bills from this injury and does not have health insurance. It’s time for everyone to give back to Jim C!”
